It’s been many years since I first started my indoor house plant journey. When I first started collecting plants, I couldn’t figure out why they would die so easily (within a matter of weeks). Turns out, I was buying the wrong type of plants! After some trial and error, I’m a proud plant mom to 5 healthy and beautiful house plants. 🙂 I’m here to share the type of plants I have that are super easy to care for. If you’re looking for some low maintenance greenery, keep on reading. -xoxo
1. Zanzibar Gem
Number one on my list is the low maintenance and versatile Zanzibar Gem (zamioculcas zamiifolia). This plant is native to Africa and is the perfect indoor house plant for beginners. It tolerates very little water and can thrive in a partially lit room or even a dark room. It has sturdy green leaves but they can turn yellow if the plant is left in direct sun. I found my zanzibar at my local Home Depot.
2. Dracaena Trifasciata aka “Snake Plant”
This probably one of the more common and easy care indoor plants, the Dracaena trifasciata also known as the “snake plant”. This indoor beauty is also native to Africa, can survive in low light conditions, tolerate dry soil plus it can help keep the air inside your home free of toxins. All in all, this plant is gold and would make the perfect indoor house plant. The leaves grow long and tall and have various green and yellow patterns.
3. Peperomia
The peperomia indoor house plant can brighten up any room it sits in! This plant has really thick patterned leaves that can even look heart shaped. It thrives in bright sunny spots with not a lot of water care needed, so be sure to place this gem somewhere with lots of light. I’ve had the peperomia plant for over a year and it has sprouted some beautiful foliage over time and has been very easy to care for.
4. Arrowhead Vine
Number four on my list is the arrowhead vine plant. The arrowhead vine gets its name from the pointy arrow head shaped leaves it grows. This plant does require frequent watering but overall it is easy to care for. I’ve owned the arrowhead plant for a while and it’s constantly growing new baby leaves. This plant grows quick and has a nice lush green appearance. If you’re looking for a leafy indoor plant, the arrowhead vine will be your new plant BFF.
5. Any type of Succulent Plant
Succulent plants have been all the rage in recent years due to their super low maintenance care. Essentially, succulents are desert plants and can thrive in low water conditions. Their leaves are thick so they can retain lots of water. Succulents come in all shapes, sizes and colors and you can often find super cute flower shaped ones too! This makes for an easy to care for indoor plant that you can collect all over your house and even use to decorate your outdoor landscape. These are also super easy to propagate so you can have many.
That concludes my list of Top 5 Easy Care Indoor House Plants. I hope you found this blog post helpful! Any kind of house plant you decide to bring into your home will be wonderful and will have amazing health benefits such as purifying the air and brightening your mood. It will be the perfect addition to your home. 🙂
