If you’re looking for your next island escape, look no further than Sumilon Island in the Philippines. This secluded island off the shores of Cebu, has the bluest waters you’ll ever see with an amazing resort called Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort. There’s so many activities to do on the island from snorkeling to just relaxing on a hammock. I visited this Sumilon back in 2018 and had the most amazing time and want to share the experience I had.
Where is Sumilon Island?
Sumilon island is a small sliver of land in the Philippines located off the province of Cebu.
How do you get to Sumilon Island?
I was staying in the city of Oslob when I discovered Sumilon Island. The resort can arrange transport to the Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort Port where you then take a short 20 min boat ride to Sumilon Island. Before you leave for the island, check in with the hotel reservation team and let them know you are there for the day tour 🙂
Things to do on the island?
We arranged a full day tour of Sumilon Island but you also have the option of staying overnight at the resort. The full day tour is arranged by the resort and they set up roundtrip transport, food, activities and more! We paid 1800 PHP which translates to roughly $35 USD per person for the day tour. I think it’s 100% worth it as you get everything included and have time to explore this amazing island paradise. For more info and to book the day tour, go directly to the Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort website or click here.
Some of the activities we did: Kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, swimming and lounging . Included on the tour was a lunch at the resort buffet called the Pulo Restaurant (prepare yourself for some delicious filipino food). \
Is it worth visiting?
With so many islands in the Philippines, you definitely have some options but I 100% recommend the Sumilon day tour and if you have extra money, staying overnight at the resort. The whole experience is amazing and the hotel staff really cater to the island guests. On top of that, Sumilon Island does have a sand bar that you can visit while there! The water is crystal blue and the activities are so much fun. You are limited on time but can also just enjoy a day lounging by the beach. No matter what you decide to do, you will enjoy this private island escape. 🙂
