With autumn at our doorstep, I like to update my skincare routine so that my skin remains hydrated and supple. It’s the perfect time to incorporate moisturizing ingredients as the cold weather sets in. The products I mention in this post have been my go-to’s and always yield amazing results especially for those of us who have combo/oily skin. This is my super easy 7 step fall skincare routine that anyone would enjoy. 🙂
Step 1: Oil Cleanse
The first step in my skincare routine is to use oil to break down all the makeup and dirt on my face. You won’t believe how effective oil is at cleaning your skin and wiping away all that stubborn makeup! My personal favorite makeup oil is Tatcha’s THE CAMELLIA CLEANSING OIL. It’s priced at $48 but is worth every penny. This stuff is AMAZING and lasts a very long time. I’ve had my bottle for over a year and still have not run out. You only need 1-2 pumps of oil.
A more cost-effective but still great alternative is The Face Shops Rice Water Bright Rich Cleansing Light Oil, it’s only $12.95 on Amazon is has amazing ingredients such as rice water and moringa oil.
Step 2: Hydrating Cleanser
After the oil breaks down my makeup, I use the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser to double cleanse my skin. I really love this cleanser as it contains amino acid-rich proteins, cucumber extract, and rosewater that leaves my skin nice and hydrated. It doesn’t strip my skin of anything and has a great lather! PLUS it smells amazing!
Step 3: Exfoliate
I love using exfoliators because they leave my skin feeling so soft after. It’s a great tool for oily skin. I’m currently obsessed with Caudalie‘s Deep Cleansing Exfoliator. It has very fine microbeads that aren’t irritating and help buff away dry skin. I like to purchase from Macy’s as they often have 15% off their beauty items! You can get your hands on yours for only $29 right now at Macy’s.com which is a great price point. The formula is creamy, gentle but effective at scrubbing away any texture from your skin.
Step 4: Essence Water
After cleansing and exfoliating, I love using essence to really hydrate my skin. I’m currently using Tatcha’s The Essence. This is definitely a luxury as a bottle goes for a whopping $105! However, I really love incorporating this into my skincare routine. It adds that extra hydration and suppleness to my skin. Would I say you absolutely need it? No, you can definitely skip this part of the routine but I really like using it. 🙂 It also lasts quite a long time (I’ve had mine for over a year now).
Step 5: Hydrating Serum
A love incorporating serums into my fall skincare routine, especially moisturizing ones. My skin tends to get dry and oily at the same time (combo skin), so I use squalene oil to combat that. Squalene has amazing hydrating properties and locks in your skin’s moisture. I enjoy using this before I do my makeup or in the night as it really leaves a smooth canvas on my skin. I use The Ordinary’s 100% Plant-Derived Squalane. The price point is AMAZING and costs $7.90.
Step 6: Hydrating Night Cream
The most essential part of the routine is to lock in all those amazing ingredients you just showered your skin in. You can use any kind of hydrating night cream but I personally enjoy using ELF’s Fragrance-Free Holy Hydration! Face Cream. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid and a special peptide complex that makes your skin so soft! Did I mention it’s only $12!? This stuff is amazing and ultra-moisturizing.
Step 7: Soothing Eye Cream
Last on the list is an eye cream. I’ve only recently started using eye creams and find them to be useful in minimizing fine lines around your eyes. I’ve been using the Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream and it works really well! It’s extremely creamy, so a little goes a long way. I like to gently pat this under my eyes and it gives me a nice ‘glow’.
That sums up my 7 Step Fall Skincare routine. It’s very simple but effective at leaving your skin hydrated and nourished. I’ve been using these products for a while and find them to work the best 🙂
