THRILLING and BREATHTAKING are the best words to describe my experience stepping onto a glass skywalk over the French Alps. I was visiting the beautiful town of Chamonix, France when we stumbled across this once in a lifetime experience. It was no easy journey but we somehow found ourselves at the top of a snow covered mountain buying tickets to the skywalk, otherwise known as “Step into the Void“.
What is “Step into the Void” ?
This Aiguille du Midi Glass Skywalk aka “Step into the Void” is an awesome tourist attraction at the top of the Aiguille du Midi mountain. Find more information on the skywalk go here. Once you get to the top of the mountain via cable car (already a thrilling experience) you land onto this summit where you can explore and buy tickets to the glass skywalk. It claims to be the “highest attraction in Europe” and I believe it!
You’re roughly 3842 meters high, where you step into a glass box with breathtaking views all around you and nothing but air beneath your feet. Let me tell you, this was such a thrilling experience! I got a bad case of vertigo, where I couldn’t step onto the glass without thinking I was falling! The glass box really tricks your mind and adds that extra touch of excitement.
I rate the overall experience a 10/10! I When we visited Chamonix, I never expected we would be perched 3000+ meters up a mountain, stepping into a glass box with views of the French Alps. The skywalk tickets can be purchased online or directly at the site. Here is the Trip Advisor page on this experience as well. It was unforgettable and I recommend this experience for anyone who is visiting France and wants to try something thrilling.
