Oh Bali… the land of beautiful beaches and lush jungle landscape. People flock to this charming island to immerse themselves in some zen Balinese culture. Think trendy jungle hotels, smoothie bowl cafes and yoga sessions. But did you also know that Bali is known for its beautiful Rice Terraces? One of the more famous ones is called the Tegallalang Rice Terraces. I visited these terraces back in 2018 and they were wonderful to behold. It’s crazy to know beautiful landscapes like this exist in the world.
During my trip in Bali, I knew I wanted to really immerse myself in the Balinese culture. One of which was admiring their agriculture and landscape. This little island has so much greenery it’s insane! I could hear all types of creatures my California ears have never heard before. But most of all, I was always surrounding by lush greenery. On my second day in Bali, my boyfriend and I rented out a motor scooter (as that looked like the transportation of choice in the city of Ubud). We hoped on a rode about 15-20 min out of the city center to the Tegallalang Rice Terrances.
As I mentioned, these are pretty famous in Bali so there was quite a few people there when we arrived. There is no entrance fee and you are able to walk through the terraces freely to snap some photos. There was actually a couple of “bars” or establishments surrounding the terraces where you could stop and buy a drink at. We opted to do that before trekking as it was quite hot. The place we stopped out actually had this cute “I LOVE BALI” sign that we could take photos at. It was a beautiful experience all around! I’ve never seen rice fields and such perfectly laid out landscape. Down below is a photo of my boyfriend and I at the sign. I hope one day you can go visit these rice terraces and just be in awe of how lush and beautiful the world can be. -xoxo
